Honestly, my experience with MEPL was mid. Classes weren't the problem. The problem was their schedule. The classes for CLP and ECIPL started in Aug 2023 and went on till Nov 2023. Only Part 1 (Chapters 1-7 of The Companies Act, 2013) was completed by November. The classes for CS Exec for CLP were clubbed with CA Inter classes for Corporate Law. I didn't like this to be honest. I felt the focus was mainly on CA Inter and not CS Exec. This is purely my opinion though. One thing I'd like to add is that classes for both the subjects were great.
Then the classes for CMSL, FM and TLP started after 20th November. Again, the classes were wonderful especially for TLP and FM. The classes for CMSL got interesting eventually as Deepak sir started giving practical knowledge as well. CMSL classes ended in April 2024, FM in February 2024 and TLP never. I really liked Pratik sir's classes a lot, but they never ended. In Direct Taxes, concepts like Residential Status, Advance Tax and Procedural Compliance weren't taught at all. They were covered in the Mission series briefly in April. In Indirect Taxes, Customs and Procedural Compliance under GST weren't covered at all. Only Customs was covered in the Mission series. I had to resort to CA Vivek Gaba sir's lectures on YouTube to cover Customs and other topics in May.
Coming back to CLP, the classes resumed in November again after a week off. The classes were regular till the 2nd week of December and then I had no idea what happened. The classes then became very infrequent. A few lectures were being covered and then a hiatus again. Classes for CLP ended only in the first week of May 2024. The schedule was just too messy.
Now, JIGL. These were the classes which I didn't like much. Maybe this was because of the nature of the subject or due to the teachers, not sure. The classes began in February, and I felt like it was being rushed through to complete it on time. The lectures ended in April albeit a few chapters were remaining. Chapters like Sources of Law, Administrative Law, RTI etc. weren't covered live. Old lectures of Mohit sir were uploaded and that too in late April.
And now SBILL. Well, the lectures never began so the question of when it ended never rose. Lectures of the previous batch were uploaded. I don't know when these were uploaded but I saw them in November. Though they were helpful they weren't in a proper order. I had to find chapters and order them. And few lectures of Mohit sir were given to adjust. Only LLP was covered live.
The books which I received were great. The ones for JIGL and CMSL were for the OLD syllabus and weren't of much use. I received a new book for JIGL but that was in the 3rd week of May. Books for ECIPL and SBILL were received in late March.
Now, coming to the conclusion.
Q. Did I like it?
- A yes and a no. Yes, for the lectures. No, for the scheduling of it.
Q. Will I recommend MEPL?
- Yes, if you can adjust to the schedule and do the uncovered topics by yourself, otherwise no.
I feel the price paid for the classes isn't being justified when other academies are providing the same services for almost 10,00 INR less. For the services they provide when compared to the price, I'd honestly rate it a 5/10.
