regaining the lost grounds 📈
It's been a week since I quit social media. This post is just a brief about the experiences I've had post quitting. I know the sample space to share an experience is quite small but I want to track how far I can go in this journey.
Last week, I had deactivated my Instagram, deleted my Reddit, logged out of my Facebook and logged out of Quora. In the next few paragraphs, I'll detail my experience with each platform.
Instagram: Perhaps this was the toughest platform for me to distance myself from. And this was sheerly due to the amount of time I had spent on the platform. A week after quitting I feel great about it. The tendency to pull myself down only due to a few people sharing the brighter side of their lives and making mine negative has slowly started to vanish. I feel like I'm not constantly being looked down at by others. I don't feel like I'm missing out on a lot.
Reddit: The journey with this platform began only a few months back and for some reason I've been pulled back to this app over and over again. And this time too, the situation was quite similar. Only 3 days after deleting my account, I created a new one. Though I have deleted that account today, I feel like I've let myself down a bit. The only reason I went back to the app was to connect with the CS fraternity on that platform. You may check out r/CompanySecretary on Reddit. Looking at it from a larger view, I feel like this is something I shouldn't have done. I feel guilty of cheating.
Facebook: I know you're considering me a boomer. Like Reddit, I had logged in again in to Facebook a couple of days ago. I have no reasons to put forward as an excuse here. I should not have been there and I accept my fault. I will rectify this mistake in the future.
Quora: Another of those apps which I haven't used in a long while. Quora, unlike other apps in this list, hasn't had any bad effect on me. I used to use it a long while back to find answers and read views of various people. I haven't logged back and have stayed away from this app. Overall, there has been very little effect of this action on me.
Now, Telegram and WhatsApp. I wouldn't put Telegram and WhatsApp in this list because I use both of these apps only to communicate with the people who are close to me and my teachers. If you've received any message from me on either of these platforms in the last week, then you're quite special to me. And special here shall be construed only in a non-romantical sense. Just clearing any possible doubts with that line. 😂😅
With that being said, I'll take your leave. 👋 I'll post more about my journey of staying away from social media and the effects it will cause. Till then I wish everyone good luck with their lives and hope everyone stays happy. 😊
And this line is just for that one person who reads my blog kind of on a regular basis. I hope you get in to your desired med school. ❤️
